Microsoft announce 5000 job cuts with the Entertainment and Devices (E&D) unit — the group that is responsible for Xbox, Zune and Windows Mobile, hit with the bulk of the immediate 1,400-person cuts. This is despite Microsoft announcing revenue of $16.63 billion for the second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2008 and net income of $5.94 billion. Hard times indeed Microsoft.
